Young Henrys Noble Cut is Australia’s First Grain-to-Glass Gin
Young Henrys Noble Cut Gin is the first ‘grain-to-glass’ Australian gin, made by Newtown brew-boys Young Henrys. More widely known for their selection of top-notch craft beers, Young Henrys have taken to distilling gin from the same barley used in their ales. Embracing their Sydney rascal image, Young Henrys reportedly sourced a custom copper still for the project from an eighth-generation moonshiner in Tennessee.
Noble Cut is based on a traditional London dry style and features a lot of the usual suspects – juniper, coriander, orange peel, cassia bark and angelica root – but also throws some interesting Australian botanicals like bush tomato and pepper berry into the mix. A bit of Australian-grown sencha and cascara too. The use of the hops from the beer as a predominant botanical keeps the flavour profile of this gin close to its roots.
