Ministry of Clouds 2013 Grenache (McLaren Vale)

Ministry of Clouds is a small boutique McLaren Vale winery doing big things. Winemakers Julian Forwood and Bernice Ong come from a background in wine marketing – not wine making – but have fallen naturally into the trade with years of experience and invaluable contacts in the industry.

Named by James Halliday as one of Australia’s Top 10 in his annual Australian Wine Companion, Ministry of Clouds were reportedly “within a hair’s breadth of being nominated as the best” according to Halliday.

The Ministry of Clouds 2013 Grenache is a superb example of South Australian dry grown Grenache. The fruit was hand-picked and destemmed before being cold-soaked over four days, open-fermented, basket-pressed and aged 10 months in French Oak.

The result is a beautiful light and fragrant wine, with fresh red berry aroma and medium-bodied palate. Perfect for drinking right now.
