Settlers Release New McLaren Vale Goji Vodka
Settlers Goji Vodka is the latest release by Rowland Short, winemaker and owner of Maximus Wines in the McLaren Vale. Rowland made his first foray into small-batch liquor production with Settlers Gin in early 2015, featuring a grape spirit base made from fruit grown on his property in the Vale.
Whilst the gin brings a number of native South Australian botanicals, including Muntrie berries from the Coorong and lemon myrtle from the Adelaide Hills, the vodka is infused with organically certified Goji berries and vanilla. The Goji and vanilla bring a subtle sweetness to the vodka and make for a refreshing twist on the vodka soda.
As it stands, Settlers Goji vodka is the only South Australian made vodka with the State’s other distillers (78 Degrees, Kangaroo Island Spirits) focusing squarely on gin.
